Special Mention at the Berlin international film festival 2008.
Luca is a host on Arte, and his partner Gustav is a film critic. Both are in their thirties. They run a perfectly normal household in a Western country called Italy. But it turns out there’s a big difference between Western Europe and conservative Italy. Their life changes as in March of 2006 the left-wing parties decide to promote legislation allowing same-sex couples to marry. Within days Italy is drawn into a political and religious discussion. Right-wing politicians use the media, as verbal and physical violence towards the LGBT community surges. Gustav drags his partner to a journey into the darker and less convenient corners of Italian society, into the depths of Italian politics and bureaucracy. In their first feature, these two directors have made a moving, funny and sad documentary, which not only gives an ironic social and political perspective, but also the daily routine of a stable, loving relationship.
Gustav Hofer and Luca Ragazzi are special guests at this year's festival.
