Cheryl Dunye’s second feature is a shocking jailhouse drama which won Best Film awards at the LGBT film festivals in Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle. Treasure grew up in an orphanage knowing her mother had passed away. She spends most of her time as a lesbian teenager growing up in an institution for young outlaws. When the right age comes, she is moved to a real jail, where she surprisingly meets her mother. Brownie reigns supreme over the life-sentence ward. She is busy smuggling various products which her faithful women sell for the highest price. Treasure does everything she can to impress brownie, to feel maternal love for the first time. In her second feature, Dunye creates an intense drama that doesn't let go. Yolonda Ross is superb as Treasure and Davenia McFadden is unforgettable as Brownie.
