The Tel Aviv International LGBT Film Festival will celebrate 8 years in June 2013. Over the years the festival has become a major event in the Israeli cinematic calendar despite its constant fight against different elements who wish to shut it down. Every January we host a big, festive fund raising event. This year, director Jonathan Lisecki and the Film Collaborative kindly let us hold a one time screening of “Gayby,” The New York hit independent comedy nominated for Best Script at the Independent Spirit Awards (the “Oscars” of the independent American film industry).

Jen is a straight single woman Yoga instructor in New York. Matt is a comics artist, admirer of superheroes and of course, a single, aloof gay man in the Big Apple. They are best friends since college. Both, now in their mid-30s, ceased to believe they would find a life partner and so decided to bring a child to the world, together. The old fashion way. “Gayby” world premiered at the SXSW Film Festival to rave reviews and have been traveling the world since garnering numerous prizes. Get ready to laugh and cry by a story about friendship, sex and the families we choose to make. A one time chance to view this film as it will not be commercially released in Israel. (USA, 89 min, 2012, English with Hebrew subtitles).
