The Life and Death of A Porno Gang

Dir: Mladen Djordjevic

Serbia; Serbian with English subtitles, 105 min, 2009

Friday 25.6, 24:00 cinematheque 2

One of the strongest, unapologetic films you will see in this year’s festival.

director Mladen Djordjevic created a critical film about Serbian society after Milosevic’s brutal rule. Marco is a young and ambitious filmmaker who’s hired by gangsters to make porn films. These gangsters, however, do not appreciate his creative abilities, and after he is attacked, he decides to leave and join a group of society rejects (druggies, transvestites, gays and others) who agree to partake in a special theatrical pornographic play traveling through the conservative landscape of Serbia. This unconventional group finds itself in a nightmare of sex and crime. This is not an easy watch, but nonetheless highly recommended. Explicit sex. 18 y.o. and older.
